The brilliance of John Sandilands

John Sandilands – ‘a wayward genius who delighted editors with the brilliance of his copy, but also – only too often – incurred their wrath’ died in 2004 and his partner Liz Hodgkinson runs a great site about him and his writing. You get a real feel for the man from the letters, as well the relationship between editors and freelances. Try this 1969 rejection letter/gushing praise from Nova editor Peter Crookston for starters. Do editors still write letters like this? Great stuff … and you haven’t got to ‘A weekend with Fireball’ yet.
