We’ll miss the ‘Troubleshooter’

Sir John Harvey Jones - former ICI chairman, backer of the FI Group and the BBC’s Troubleshooter - has died after a long illness. I met him a couple of times and was often reminded of him when I walked into Tolly Cobbold pubs in Suffolk. For there, on one of the handpumps or a bottle of ale would be his cheery face - he did an episode of his TV series on the brewery and they christened a beer - Tollyshooter - after him. The FT relates that at one stuffy dinner at the Economist (where he was chairman) he a jig on the table to demonstrate his frustration.
